By Ramsfan045
Do not buy this product! I recently purchased this cooktop and I'm sorry that I did. First, the cooking grates are not level and untrue. When you place a pot or pan on the cooking grate, it wobbles because the grates are not level. I can't tell you how annoying this is.
Second, have you ever bent over to look at the fire underneath a pot to check the flame? Well, on this cooktop you can't do that. If you look closely at the grates in the pictures, they are made of thick cast iron. The part of the grate that runs along the front burners is so thick and wide that it blocks the view of the flame so when you bend over to check the flame under a pot, you can't see the flame at all. The thick grate blocks the view.
Third, I quickly found out that it is impossible to cook pancakes on this cooktop. The burners are too big in diameter and thus it creates a "hot ring" on the skillet where the flame is underneath, but the center stays cool. The center of the skillet where a pancake would cook doesn't get hot enough and so the pancakes stick. I have tried turning the burner down lower to concentrate the heat more to the center of the skillet, but then the low heat setting doesn't get the skillet hot enough either and the pancakes stick this way as well.
It's obvious that Maytag was trying to cut cost and save money by skipping the testing phase of this product and wanted to get it right out on the market as quickly as possible. Don't buy this product.

By Anonymous
Corrioson all around burner area after about a 1 year of using this.. I guess its not real stainless steel and some kind of coating or cheap stainless steel which is causing the corrision.. I'm stuck with this for sometime, but definitely will be buying some other brand.
